Smith Oaks Rookery 2013 and After

The first images are from the ferry ride from Galveston Island to Bolivar Peninsula. Then after driving along the peninsula the road turns north into High Island, a land locked island where the Smith Oaks Rookery and Wildlife Refuge is. There are from two weeks into the season and there is a lot more greenery than usual for this time of year. the birds are very busy building nests and getting along with the mating season.
