1-17-06 was the Professional Photographers of California Merit Print Competition. This is my second competition with the PPC. Of three entries, two received Merit Print Awards. I learned a lot about what makes a merit print, from the fundamental capture, to the quality of the printing presented under very bright spotlights, that make the photograph jump right out at you when the blacks are very black, and the highlights pop but are not blown out.
